25, 26 and 27 September 2020
9.30 - 21.00
OnLine
The International Gestalt Training organized by the Gestalt Florence Institute and Azioni e Contaminazioni this year will be an extraordinary online edition from 25 to 27 September, while waiting the return of the “live” events in 2021. It is going to be a great chance to explore a well-known subject to most gestaltists around the world like, that is the Enneagram.
A unique opportunity to connect, both in reality and virtual, with some of the best-known experts on this topic.
It will be the Hub of an intercultural meeting, unique both for participants as well as for workshop leaders.
If Covid, on the one hand created an almost unbridgeable contact gap through social distancing, the stop of travelling and the restoration of physical borders between neighbouring states, on the other allowed us to discover the opportunity to reduce such distances in the virtuality of the available internet platforms and so create a much larger event , very rich in cultural proposals.
Italy, Colombia, Spain, Ukraine, Russia, Uruguay, Mexico, Portugal, Great Britain, Brazil (etc…) are some of the countries that will be present through the contributions of the invited trainers and the expected participants.
We will embrace a dialogic perspective, encouraging exchange and interconnection which has always been the soul of Gestalt Psychotherapy and the helping relationship with an existential phenomenological background.
The Ennegram will be the main thread that will lead us to observe and get involved in the different experiences proposed in workshops and so share a culture of the helping relationship based on the idea of personal growth.
Growth that cannot take place without comparing the various weltanschauung that multiculturalism offers us.
From this perspective, globalisation can be the chance to share knowledge rather than products and technologies and so make much more sense.
Starting from Paolo Quattrini’s book “Attachment, character, personality disorders”, Scientific Director of the Gestalt Institute of Florence, we will thus address the area of behaviour: a very old topic in the history of humanity, building itself from the beginning of its life. With an eye to the individual’s potential to creatively adapt to daily life, passing through well-established psychological theories such as attachment theory and the pragmatic observations of DSM IV on diagnostic issues concerning personality disorder, Paolo Quattrini takes us with his book in his vision of the Enneagram in the light of a phenomenological-existential Gestalt.
The event is addressed to everybody who somehow got in touch or is interested in the subject of the Enneagram in different cultures, as well as art as an agent of the helping relationship and Gestalt psychotherapy, whether you are a professional or simply have a passion for the subject.
The extraordinary opportunity to be able to get to know, within the entire program of the event, the style and thoughts of various Gestalt experts from all over the world. You will learn how to use the Enneagram as a tool in a multifaceted, non-stereotyped and less academic way.
The possible declinations of what we can effectively define as an instrument of knowledge are infinite, also thanks to the many opportunities art can offer: figurative art, theatre, sound, body, literature are very fertile fields in which attention to personality and its expressive forms take space and movement, allowing everyone to get deeper self-awareness, consider your existential views and also look at your own behavioral stereotypes.
It will be an experience of interconnection: you will take home a hint of someone else’s life that you could never meet otherwise.
Small cultural seeds will be planted to create, grow and develop an international community centered on the principles of awareness, individual responsibility and the ethics of human action.
An ethics based on empathy, that is, knowing how to put yourself in the shoes of the other.
Only in this way human growth is possible, both on an individual and collective basis.
The Enneagram, from an existential phenomenological perspective, however, will not be adressed as a psycho-diagnostic tool, a way to categorize and label human behavior according to a classical medical or psychological model. It will be a story telling approach to be taken as a critical starting point to reflect upon yourself and the relationship with the other from a phenomenological-existential perspective.
The three-day programme will be full of lectures, each lasting two hours each, with over twenty speakers from many countries around the world. Meetings will be full of theoretical ideas as well as interactions with the participants. There will be also more experiential moments, where topics will be developed through practice and there will be more interaction.
Artistic and body mediation will be present in some workshops with proposals in various languages.
The psychosocial perspective, as a broader view of community contexts, will be part of this program thanks to the proposals that will be offered by professionals working in the social field using Gestalt in contexts of marginality, emergency, etc.

There will be many therapists and international participants will actually create a living workshop where to experience and observe similarities as well as differences between personal and cultural peculiarities, connected to different styles and characters, also in terms of working methods.
We will address character as an art of living, looking at it from a philosophical, psychological, artistic point of view, using various imaginative and expressive languages.
Literature, cinema, painting, theatre, poetry, dance, music and voice, medicine and physics will be channels to enter the topic of character and then go beyond it.
These languages will help us to build a mosaic of existential possibilities, getting out of the so-called destiny.
One of the main targets of this second edition of International Gestalt Training is to meet and develop a network among people from different parts of the world. There is the will to build a human koinè, involved in cultivating “value”. You have the chance to work on yourself and share with others thanks to the richness of the educational and geographical origins of the speakers who will participate in this meeting. Psychologists-psychotherapists, psychiatrists, doctors-psychotherapists, counselors, scientists, philosophers, artists, university professors, who work and teach in different fields from various parts of the world.
They will bring us their precious experience, to make these three days an open workshop from which we hope to come out with many more questions than we had at the beginning.
We will start with Paolo Quattrini, scientific director of the Gestalt Institute in Florence, the promoter of the event, addressing one of the central topics for the existence of the human being: the ongoing dialogue between the need for “belonging and participation”, an existential question at basis of the research of each enneatype and each person. We will thus access the topic of character according to the phenomenological-existential perspective which Paolo Quattrini developed in his life of human and professional research, carried out in his many writings and books on the subject.
The presence of Prof Giuseppe Vitiello, of the Physics Department “E.R. Caianiello “of the University of Salerno will show us how important it is in physics:” the role of “doubt” in the dissipative model, in the process of self-questioning and listening “
“Our great privilege of making mistakes has its roots in this making mistake. The brain is, to say it with an oxymoron, a device that makes mistakes. “(Quote from his abstract introducing his intervention).
Thanks to other speakers we will get into the many facets of the helping relationship with artistic mediation, in individual and group therapy and in Psycho-Social Support interventions in community and emergency contexts, a topic at the centre of Lucia Berdondini’s talk, Course Leader of the Distance Learning MSc Humanitarian Intervention at East London University, with Valentina F. Barlacchi, IGF Didactic director and trainer in Italy and the Middle East in humanitarian contexts, with Jorge Villalonga, psychologist-psychoterapist, director of Escuela Gestalt Bogotà in Colombia and with Alessandra Petrone, psychologist – IGF teaching psychotherapist, anthropologist, trainer in Italy and abroad who will work on character as a resource.
The contexts of social marginality and psychic distress will be addressed with experts such as Amedeo Galluppi psychiatrist-psychotherapist and Ana Costantini, pedagogist, counselor, director of the School of Counseling. They will work with storytelling and painting.
It will be important to be able to broaden our perspective of family systems and relationships, thanks to the contribution of Anna Ravenna, psychologist-psychotherapist instructor IGF-FISIG, supervisor, cofounder IGF, Fernando De Lucca, psychologist-psychotherapist, director of the Institute “Encuentro-Centro de Estudios Gestálticos del Uruguay” will take us to look at the Enneagram in connection with loving relationships. Filippo Carbonera counsellor, philosophy graduated, facilitator in Constellations will lead us into the perspective of character as a bridge between Gestalt and Constellations from a phenomenological-existential perspective.
Caterina Terzi, psychologst-psychotherapist, co-founder and vice-director of Istituto Gestalt Puglia, will talk about the love for oneself to be cultuvated in order to meet the other.
To enter the use of artistic mediators in therapy and training contexts in Italy and abroad, we will be accompanied by: Shobha Arturi doctor-psychotherapist IGF and Azioni e Contaminazioni, Pierluca Santoro psychologist- psychotherapist, art-therapist IGF and Azioni e Contaminazioni, Gianluca Taddei, psychologist, musician, gestalt music therapist and Macarena Diuana psychologist-psychotherapist, director of the Sociedad Luso-Española de Psicoterapia Gestalt (SLEPG), Gianni Capitani artist, painter, Gestalt Counselor and Trainer AICo- from Mexico.
Thanks to Stefano Pericoli, director of Ferma-Mente and to Graciela Andaluz, director of the Canary Gestalt Institute, both doctors and Gestalt psychotherapists, we will contact the border between psychological and physical well-being. Michele Galgani, IGF psychotherapist working at the Hospice in Bitonto, author of books on laughing and dying, will lead us into the space of the end of life, while with Francesco Cattafi and Marialisa Pinori, both psychotherapists with training in Gestalt and Bionergetics we will see in what ways character comes to life in our body and how this affects our relationships.
With Sandra Salomao, psychologst-psychotherapist, director of CgT-Centro de Gestalt Terapia Rio de Janeiro, we will deal with the subjet of supervision from the point of view of character.
We will then get into a space where the Gestalt model highlights and expresses the philosophical roots of its thought with Paolo Quattrini, IGF scientific director and Francesca Cantaro, philosopher, psychotherapist, IGF teacher and NLP didactic director Bologna, who will take us to the very roots of the enneatypes’ intentions.
Finally, we will get in touch with us as human beings and the various dimensions of life in social coexistence and intimacy with ourselves.
Character is a serious thing that shouldn't be taken seriously.
